Reinterpreting Paul Auster’s Red Notebook from a contemporary perspective, translating the intimate and reflective atmosphere of the text into a visual editorial language. The goal was to turn the book into a physical and narrative experience, where design and content constantly dialogue without losing the original literary essence.

Concept & Design
The project starts from the very meaning of the book: a notebook where reality, memory, and chance intertwine. The color red, the central element of the work, becomes the structural design tool, functioning as a narrative layer within the editorial composition.
Red pages act as visual interruptions that mark pauses, fragments, and moments of intensity, creating a more conscious reading rhythm. The typographic composition emphasizes simplicity and balance, leaving space for visual silence and reinforcing the introspective character of the text.
Editorial Object
The redesign includes the complete conception of the editorial object: cover, grid system, and typographic hierarchy, as well as the integration of color as a physical element within the book. The interaction between white and red pages creates a tactile and visual experience that transforms reading into a progressive journey, emphasizing the relationship between form, narrative, and object.
Hi I’m Marina
My background is rooted in visual communication. I studied Graphic Design in Málaga and later completed a Master’s in Editorial Design in Valencia, where I developed a strong eye for typography, layout systems and visual storytelling. That foundation shaped the way I think about design today: structured, intentional and built to last.
I started my career in local creative agencies designing websites and supporting branding projects, learning how to turn ideas into clear and functional communication. More recently, I worked as a Creative Designer at The Music Republic, creating visual identities and campaign materials for large-scale music festivals, including Arenal Sound (largest festival in Spain), Interestelar Sevilla and Granada Sound. I developed visual work connected to artists such as Jhayco, Anuel AA and Myke Towers. Working in that environment taught me how to think conceptually, move fast and maintain consistency across complex visual systems.
I’m especially drawn to branding, editorial thinking and digital experiences where clarity and personality coexist.
For me, design is not just about making things look good. It’s about building recognition, coherence and meaning over time.
